Repair B3-B4/Passat B3-B4 Volkswagen Passat>> Transmission>> Mechanical transmission>> Transmission removal
Work is carried out on a viewing ditch or a platform. For removal of a transmission to remove the engine it is not required. To hold a transmission use a basic rack.
Cнятие of a transmission of transfers carry out in the following order:
disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the storage battery;
unscrew a drain stopper on a case of a transmission and merge oil from a transmission in capacity of the corresponding volume After oil plum, wrap back drain stopper;
establish a basic rack under a transmission;
disconnect wires from a transmission;
disconnect a reception exhaust pipe from a final collector and fix it a basic rack or a wooden emphasis;
disconnect cables of a preliminary choice of transfers and gear shifting and dismantle an arm of fastening of cables from the top part of a transmission. Cables are not obligatory for disconnecting from an arm, however it is necessary to move them aside that they did not interfere with transmission removal.
On the car with a hydraulic drive of coupling:
remove a cable and bypass the lever from a transmission to get access to the working cylinder of coupling;
having removed the working cylinder of coupling, tie up it to a car body a wire;
do not press a coupling pedal at the removed working cylinder.
On the car with a mechanical hummock drive of coupling:
remove a coupling cable from the switching and emphasis lever;
On the car with a mechanical speedometer:

       NOTE
Because to dismantle a hydraulic drive of coupling there is no need, to delete air from system further it is not required. 

unscrew the plug of the coupling and disconnect a speedometer cable from a transmission.
On the car with an electronic speedometer:
disconnect the electric socket from the sensor of a drive of a speedometer;
unscrew four top bolts of fastening of a transmission to the engine;

unscrew three bolts of fastening of the right back arm to a rezinometallichesky support of the engine (fig. 8.4) ;

unscrew bolts of fastening of a back left rezinometallichesky support of a transmission (fig. 8.5) ;

       PREVENTION
If the car is equipped with anti-blocking system of brakes (ABS), access to bolts of fastening of a back left rezinometallichesky support of a transmission is complicated. For access to bolts remove a broad tank of system of cooling. Having carefully shifted aside all hoses and wires, unscrew bolts a head on the long lever.

unscrew nuts of fastening of a forward arm of the engine (see rice 8.7 )
fix the engine by means of a sling so that any of its elements was not exposed to loading. On cars with engines of 1,8 l of DOHC remove the valve of adjustment of turns of idling from the end of an inlet collector that it was possible to attach and fix a sling;
remove a starter and a forward arm;
move steering hoses with the amplifier on rubber support of a forward arm and fix them;
unscrew a counterbalance from an auxiliary frame;
unscrew the thermofilter of the internal right hinge of equal angular speeds;
unscrew the left and right power shafts from the inside. Bolts of fastening of shaft have heads with internal teeths, and for their unscrewing it is necessary to use the corresponding key. Tie up shaft to a body;
turn on from a transmission of a support of a suspension bracket of a transmission and a suspension bracket arm. The engine together with a box shift as it is possible further to the right and raise it;

unscrew bolts of fastening and remove the lever of a suspension bracket of a transmission (fig. 8.6) ;
unscrew bolts of fastening of the bottom protective cover of a case of coupling and uncover;
having established a basic rack under a transmission case, raise it so that the weight of a transmission was perceived by the resistant;
unscrew bolts of the bottom fastening of a transmission to the engine;
mount wring out a transmission from the engine, lower it down and take from under the car;
press the lever of switching off of coupling in the direction to a case of a transmission and fix a pin or bolt М8х35 of mm. After installation of a transmission remove the screw and close an opening a stopper.
