Replacement of a filtering element of the air filter carry out in the following order:

– weaken a collar 6 (see fig. 5.8 );
– separate an air line 7 from a cover 4 filters;
– disconnect spring brackets 8;
– uncover the filter and take filtering element 3;
– enclose a new filtering element to the place of the removed.
Installation of the removed elements make in sequence, return to removal.

Check of system of heating  of air at engine start-up
The heating of air submitted to the engine depends on temperature and loading of the engine and copes an air zaslonka located in the filter case. The air zaslonka is put in action by the vacuum regulator using vacuum of an inlet collector. The thermovacuum valve in the case of the air filter operates vacuum depending on temperature in an inlet collector. Malfunction of system of heating of air brings to:
to unstable turns of idling at engine warming up:
to decrease in acceleration performance of the car;
to engine capacity reduction;
to the increased fuel consumption.

Check of system of heating of air at start-up of the engine equipped with system of injection of Digifant fuel (fig. 5.9) , carry out in the following order:
– disconnect a hose from the vacuum chamber of a temperature regulator;
– uncover the air filter and take filtering element. The air folding zaslonka of a regulator in the case of the air filter should be in the provision of closing of the channel of supply of warmed-up air;
– put on the union of the vacuum chamber an additional hose and create vacuum, thus a folding zaslonka of a regulator should move and block the channel of intake of cold air;
– start the engine in an idling mode;
– connect an expansion pipe to a brass pipe and check temperature regulator action. Depending on temperature, the provision of a folding zaslonka of a regulator in twenty seconds should be the following:
supply of cold air is closed, if temperature less than 20 °C;
supply of warm air is closed, if temperature more than 30 °C.

Check of system of heating of air at start-up of the engine equipped with system of injection of Mono-Jetronic fuel (fig. 5.10) , carry out in the following order.
Check make on the cold engine, at air temperature no more than 40 °C.
– uncover the air filter and take filtering element;
– be convinced that the zaslonka freely moves and on the cold engine blocks supply of warmed-up air;
– start the engine in a mode of idling and check that the zaslonka moved and blocked supply of cold air;
– if the zaslonka does not move, disconnect lines from a temperature regulator 3 and connect them together;
– if supply of warmed-up air does not occur, the vacuum chamber 4 is faulty. If the zaslonka blocks supply of cold air, the temperature regulator is faulty.
– at operation of the engine, the provision of a zaslonka of a regulator is established by a temperature regulator. At air temperature 35 °C are lower, the regulator should be open and intake of cold air is closed. At air temperature more than 45 °C, a regulator should be closed and open intake of cold air.

Check of system of heating of air at start-up of the engine equipped with systems of injection of K-Jetronic and KE-Motronic fuel (fig. 5.11) , carry out in the following order:
– uncover the air filter and take filtering element;
– move a cover aside that the air zaslonka of a regulator was visible;
– start the engine in an idling mode;
– at temperature below 20°С, the zaslonka should close intake of cold air completely;
– at temperature more 30°С, the zaslonka should turn and close intake of warmed-up air;
– if the zaslonka does not work, check that it was not jammed.
