Repair B3-B4/Passat B3-B4 Volkswagen Passat>> Engines>> Petrol engine of configuration of VR6>> Removal and installation of a head of the block of cylinders
Removal of a head from the engine established on the car, is carried out in the following sequence:
– disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery;
– remove the top casing from the engine;
– remove a protective casing from the ignition distributor;
– disconnect wires of a high voltage from a cover of the distributor of ignition;
– remove directing wires of a high voltage;
– unscrew nuts 2

of fastening of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and uncover 1;
– unscrew bolts 8
(fig. 3.44)
of fastening of the top section of an inlet collector and remove the top section assembled with the case of a butterfly valve and the inlet pipeline;
– unscrew nuts 1

of fastening of a casing of a final collector and remove a casing 2;
– unscrew flange nuts and lift the receiver 3 removals of the fulfilled gases for verification of the maintenance of CO;
– unscrew nuts of the 5th fastening of sections of a final collector and remove sections 4;
– remove a chain of a drive of GRM;
– remove the ignition distributor;
– remove a natyazhitel of a chain of a drive of GRM;
– unscrew bolts 7 (see
fig. 3.43
) fastenings of a cover of a drive of GRM and uncover 6;
– unscrew bolts of the 9th fastening голоки the block of cylinders in sequence, their return inhaling
(fig. 3.46)
, on one turn for one pass and remove bolts with washers;
– remove a head of the 5th block of cylinders;
– remove laying of the 8th head of the block of cylinders;
– unscrew bolts 6 (see
fig. 3.44
) fastenings of the bottom section of an inlet collector and remove the bottom section 7.
Installation of a head of the block of cylinders is carried out in the following order:
– establish new laying 8 (see
fig. 3.43
) heads of the block of cylinders on adjusting pins "OBEN/TOP" inscription up, check combination of all openings of laying with the corresponding openings of the block of cylinders;
– establish accurately a head of the 5th block of cylinders;
– insert bolts of the 9th fastening of a head of the block of cylinders with washers and wrap them manually;
– tighten bolts of the 9th fastening of a head of the block of cylinders in the sequence shown on
fig. 3.46
, at first the moment of 40 N · m, then the moment of 60 N · m also tighten on 180 °;
– establish a chain of a drive of GRM on asterisks of camshafts, check coincidence of adjusting labels;
– establish a cover of 1 head of the block of cylinders with new laying 3 and tighten nuts 2;
– establish the top section 3 (see
fig. 3.44
) an inlet collector and tighten bolts 8. Thus first of all it is necessary to tighten fastening bolts to the bottom section of an inlet collector, and then to a back support;
– execute other operations in sequence, return to removal.
After installation adjust an accelerator cable. After start-up of the engine check tightness of connections of fuel system, systems of cooling and production of the fulfilled gases.
