Repair B3-B4/Passat B3-B4 Volkswagen Passat>> Systems of heating, ventilation and conditioning>> Conditioner filling by a coolant
For effective work of central air the necessary quantity of a coolant and its corresponding filling is required. Low pressure in system and insufficient quantity of a coolant lead to fall of overall performance of the evaporator, and at very small quantity — to conditioner self-shutdown because of operation of the sensor of pressure. Even at an insignificant leak the filled quantity of a coolant will constantly go down that will demand new filling of system. In central air the observation port intended for a rough estimate of level of the filled coolant is provided. The observation port
(fig. 14.7)
is located on the right side of a motor compartment and built in the highway of a high pressure between the service valve of a high pressure and a broad tank 8 (see
fig. 14.5
) with a moisture separator.
For check of level of a coolant start up the engine and turn on the conditioner. At the working compressor in an observation port it should not be observed vials. Presence of vials at least and on a short period testifies to insufficient filling of a coolant. Emergence of signs of foaming on inside of viewing glass can indicate almost total absence of a coolant. For a complete recovery of operability of central air the highway of system should be pumped out, checked on tightness and refuel the prepared personnel with use of the appropriate equipment.
