Repair B3-B4/Passat B3-B4 Volkswagen Passat>> Suspension brackets>> Forward suspension bracket>> Cross-section lever
Removal of the lever is made in the following order:
– remove a decorative cap of a wheel;
– weaken bolts of fastening of a wheel;
– will hang out and fix on basic racks a forward part of the car;
– unscrew bolts of fastening of a wheel and remove a wheel;
– unscrew bolts of fastening and remove the deflector from the cross-section lever of a suspension bracket;
– establish a jack under the central part of a cross-section beam and lift a jack so that the weight of a beam was perceived by a jack;
– unscrew fastening of a suspension bracket of the stabilizer of cross-section stability to a cross-section beam and a body. The forward bolt at the same time fixes the back saylent-block cross-section lever;
– unscrew a nut of a connector of the stabilizer and disconnect the stabilizer of cross-section stability from the cross-section lever of a suspension bracket. Plates from sheet metal with a rubber support are established from two parties of the lever. The conic parties of saylent-blocks are located from plates from sheet metal while the unbent edge of plates should be sent to the opposite party from plugs;
– unscrew a nut of the coupling bolt, the cross-section lever of a suspension bracket fixing the bottom spherical support to a rotary fist. Note the adjusting provision of a bolt (a head ahead), take a bolt and a pin of the bottom spherical support from a rotary fist for what wring out the cross-section lever from a rotary fist down. At the arisen difficulties with removal of the lever insert between the lever and a car body mount and squeeze out the lever down;
– turn on and take a sharnirny bolt of fastening of the forward internal end of the lever;
– remove the cross-section lever, deducing it from a forward internal point of fastening, move down and inside from a rotary fist, and forward from internal back fastening. If necessary lower a cross-section beam that the cross-section lever of a suspension bracket was disconnected. If necessary use the corresponding lever.
Repair of the lever make in the following order:
– clear the lever of dirt;
– check a spherical support and saylent-blocks on wear. Check the lever on damages and deformation. If necessary, a spherical support and сайлентблоки should be replaced;
– for replacement of a spherical support note its situation on the cross-section lever. It is important, as relative position of the cross-section lever and a spherical support are established at manufacturer;
– unscrew three nuts and a snimitenizhny spherical support 2
(fig. 10.12)
and a lock plate 1;
– establish a new spherical support on the same place where the old spherical support settled down, and tighten nuts;
– at installation of the new cross-section lever establish a spherical support on the center of the extended opening;
– for replacement forward сайлентблока the lever, using a long bolt in a combination to a metal tubular opravka and laying, squeeze out a saylentblok from the cross-section lever. Establish a new saylentblok, using the same method, previously having greased an external part сайлентблока with soap solution;
– using the lever, remove a back saylentblok of the cross-section lever.
– establish a new back saylentblok into place so that the air gap was directed to a car axis

Installation of the lever make in sequence, return to removal.
Tighten bolts of fastening of support before car lowering on wheels.
Check corners of installation of forward wheels and in case of need adjust them (see. «Corners of installation of wheels»).
